Getnet Wale is from Gojjam, Ethiopia. He is one of seven kids, with three brothers and three sisters. Since 2014, he has been training with the Youth Sports Academy in Addis Ababa after he was recruited. Wale grew up inspired by local steeplechase runner Hirwot Ayalew. His favorite thing to drink after training is avocado juice.
