TOKYO, JAPAN – Sunday, March 5th CHALU DESO won his first Abbott World Marathon Major of his career. This win also marks the first Abbott Marathon Major win and podium of 2023 for the Elite Running Team and ESMM.
Chalu’s winning time was 2:05:22, narrowly holding off the second place finisher who was less than three hundredths behind him as they crossed the finish line. The win in Tokyo comes off the back of a very successful and consistent 2022 where Chalu won the Paris Marathon, finished 3rd in the Sydney Marathon and 6th in the Valencia Marathon.
Looking ahead to the remainder of the Spring WMM, the Elite Running Team have athletes competing in both Boston, USA and London, UK.

London Marathon – 23rd April – Kinde Atanew (ETH), Mergertu Alemu (ETH)
Boston Marathon recently announced their elite fields and both the Men’s and Women’s races look like they will be extremely competitive. This year in Boston also marks 10 years since the devastating bombing attacks and Lelisa Desisa’a first Boston win.
